No-exam life insurance

Who qualifies, how fast it works, and what happens if you don't qualify for the accelerated path.

Numerous carriers have rolled out rapid underwriting: for applicants within defined age and amount thresholds, they use the application, pharmacy records, driving history, and other data sources rather than requiring a medical exam. Outcomes frequently come back the same day. Each quote here states whether an exam is required, potentially required, or not required for that product.

What it changes

No-exam underwriting still means real underwriting. Your answers are cross-checked, and a policy issued on incorrect information can be rescinded within the first two years. If anything in the carrier's investigation raises questions, they may request an exam anyway; at that stage, you can decide to move forward or withdraw.

Who tends to qualify

Normally this applies to people under about 60 who apply for amounts under the carrier's rapid-track limit, with no significant health issues and no tobacco use in the prior year or longer. If you've had a recent physical with labs drawn, certain carriers will accept those results instead of ordering an exam.

Should you require a medical exam, the process is typically a 20-to-30-minute in-person assessment by a nurse or paramedic at a location convenient to you in the Wasco area, at no cost. For applicants with good health results, an exam can actually lead to rate improvement, so it's not necessarily a disadvantage.
